Cyprus Villa, Pissouri Bay

Pissouri Bay and Pissouri Village

Ampeli Villa is located in the seaside resort of Pissouri Bay (sometimes also referred to as Pissouri Beach and Pissouri Jetty). The jetty has long-since been washed away in a storm! Once discovered, many people return to Pissouri Bay year after year. It has a good range of amenities for visitors, but has not been over-developed, and remains a small resort with only two hotels. This appeals to families and couples alike.
Eating out is inexpensive and there is plenty of choice within a 5-minute walk of the villa.

Pissouri Village is a larger hilltop settlement about 3 km up a steep hill from Pissouri Bay. It has a maze of narrow streets, with traditional whitewashed cottages, and a central pedestrian square.

Pissouri is mid-way between Paphos and Limassol (each about 20 miles away), and easily reached from the main motorway between the two. This makes it an ideal base for exploring south-west Cyprus.

Holiday Activities in Pissouri Bay

An extensive choice of watersports is available at the beach, including waterskiing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, pedalos, banana boat, ring rides, parasailing.

There is a scuba dive centre and kite surfing in the resort offering tuition and excursions for all abilities.

You can create your own unique jewellery souvenirs at Breeze.

Select Car Rentals offer car hire in the resort to allow you to explore further afield.

Svetlana's Hair and Nail Salon provides lots of relaxing treats, or you can visit the Columbia Resort Spa as a day guest.

Limanaki Bistro (high quality Lebanese/Mediterranean fusion cuisine) is our absolute favourite, but we are not alone (booking advised).  Trip Advisor reviews.

Perry's offers a wide menu and good hospitality.

Pizza Venetto (Italian) has generous pizzas and friendly service.

Artemis is a friendly family-run Cypriot restaurant.

Flavours of India offers a good choice of currys and a takeaway option.

Agamemnon Beach Cafe is good for lunchtime snacks and drinks at the beach.

Other Places to Eat in Pissouri Bay

There is such an amazing choice in Pissouri Bay, we are always torn between revisiting old favourites and trying new restaurants, so we have not sampled all of these yet:

Yialos Tavern (fish specialities), Captain's Bay, Kastro's, Ampeli Restaurant (at Ampelohori), Ammos (at Hylatio Holiday Village).

The Vineleaf Tavern serves the usual Cypriot generous portions - feel free to share. On Friday evenings there is Cyprus Night music and dancing, and a set-price Meze.

And at the Columbia Hotels: Dionysos (fine dining), Apollo Taverna, The Old Customs House (snacks).

Our Favourite Places to Eat ... Pissouri Village

The Bunch of Grapes in Pissouri Village has an extensive menu, and is deservedly popular.

The 2 Friends has a tasty fillet of pork speciality, and organic wines made from the owner's vines.

We recommend that you visit Wednesday's entertaining Cyprus Night in Pissouri Village, perhaps dining at one of the tavernas in the square or trying Antoni's Kebabs.

Our Favourite Places to Eat ... Further Afield

Kyrenia Beach Taverna at Melanda Beach (next bay to the east) has good fish dishes and reputedly the best stifado (beef casserole) on the island.

Chris Blue Beach Cafe at Kourion / Curium Beach has a prime beachfront position which is lovely for watching the sunset as you dine.

Central Coffee Shop / Taverna in Mandria.

Fish and Chip Restaurant in Mandria.

Jo's Diner in Anarita.

Plataniskia Tavern has fantastic scenic views from its elevated terrace.
